Located in the north coast of Lisbon, Estoril became one of the most cosmopolitan places in Portugal ever since King Luís I chose this bay for his summer residence in the late 19th century.
A short stroll around the coastline reveals us the atmosphere of that period, with villas, mansions and scenic forts sharing an idyllic area.
Night Life
The luminous Estoril Casino has nightly shows, fabulous restaurants and bountiful slot machines. The bars in Tamariz beach area invite you for a cocktail in this vibrating nightlife area.
Beach
Golden sands and crystal clear waters make Praia do Tamariz, the main beach in Estoril, a unique place for a reinvigorating swim and a quiet relaxing day under the bright sun.
The best golf courses
Overlooking Estoril and the sea, the golf courses are set amongst eucalyptus, mimosas and pine trees giving a uniquely colourful touch that demands excellent tactics, challenges in accuracy rather than distance.
Walk by the sea
The Cascais-Estoril promenade is a pleasant 3km walk that wanders from fishing town of Cascais to the small village of São João do Estoril. The route follows the sea walls and sea defences that contour the beaches and coastline rocks’ outcrops.
Surf
In Estoril and other nearby locations, you can find a huge variety of waves and swell size. As a result, combining with a very mild climate, Estoril makes an ideal surfing destination for surfers of every skill.
